Former President Jair Bolsonaro was admitted to hospital this Friday (1st), in Brasília, to undergo shoulder surgery. The procedure takes place at Hospital DF Star and It was authorized by Justice Alexandre de Moraes of the Supreme Federal Court, following a request from the defense.
According to the medical team, the surgery should last about three hours and aims to treat injuries to the right shoulder, including damage to the rotator cuff and associated structures.
Bolsonaro has been under house arrest since the end of March. The request for the procedure was submitted to the Supreme Court after the former president reported persistent pain resulting from a fall that occurred while he was in custody in the Federal District.
Tendon injuries
Medical reports indicate high-grade tendon injuries, as well as impairments that cause recurring pain, both at rest and during movement. According to the defense, the intervention is necessary to preserve the health and quality of life of the former president.
Former First Lady Michelle Bolsonaro was at the hospital to be with her during the procedure.
