A man was arrested in the act, this Friday (8), transporting a large quantity of synthetic drugs in Recreio dos Bandeirantes, Southwest Zone of Rio. The drug was divided into eight packages of tablets, already packaged and ready for distribution.
The arrest was made by the Robbery and Theft Division (DRF) following an intelligence operation that monitored suspicious activity in the area. Agents located a luxury vehicle passing through Gilka Machado Street and stopped it.
Inside the car, police found a backpack containing the drugs. The vehicle used in the operation and a cell phone were also seized. The device will be examined to aid in the ongoing investigation.
The man, whose identity has not been revealed, will face charges for drug trafficking. Police are now working to identify the origin of the substance, those responsible for supplying it, and the final destination of the seized shipment.
