Agents from the Search and Recapture Division of the Penitentiary Police arrested Yago Lima da Silva, 30, near the Chapadão Complex, in the North Zone of Rio, this Tuesday (5).
The man is identified as one of those involved in the death of Navy Corporal Monique Santana, who was murdered in 2016 during an attempted robbery on Rua do Amparo, in Cascadura. At the time, the servicewoman was 23 years old.
According to authorities, Yago had been on the run since failing to return to the prison system after being granted periodic family visits. His recapture was made possible after information was passed on to the anonymous tip line, which allowed authorities to identify his location.
After his arrest, he was returned to the prison system, where he will continue serving his sentence.
