Justice Alexandre de Moraes is the new rapporteur for the appeals against Governor Wilson Witzel's impeachment pending before the Supreme Federal Court. He was appointed by lottery after Luiz Fux declared himself unable to act on the case.
In the coming days, Alexandre de Moraes is expected to speak out regarding the appeal filed by Alerj against an injunction from President Dias Toffoli, which determined a new composition of the investigating committee, with respect to the proportionality of the benches.
A Rio native, Fux declined to comment on a case involving a power struggle between political groups in Rio, his state.
