Brazilian Supreme Court Justice Alexandre de Moraes has ordered the immediate suspension of the appointment of Alexandre Ramagem as director-general of the Federal Police. Nominated by President Jair Bolsonaro after the resignation of Justice Minister Sergio Moro, Ramagem is a friend of the president's sons and was Bolsonaro's security coordinator during the 2018 election campaign.

Moraes granted a request made by the PDT party to the Supreme Federal Court. "Analyzing the facts presented, I find the alleged right probable, since, in theory, the occurrence of a misuse of power in the presidential act of appointing the director of the Federal Police is viable, in disregard of the principles of impartiality, morality, and public interest," the minister wrote in his decision.
