The Special Police Operations Battalion (Bope) carried out, this Tuesday (5), an operation in the Morro do Borel community, in Tijuca, North Zone of Rio, to contain the actions of criminals involved in territorial disputes.
During the operation, agents located a camp used by drug traffickers in a wooded area. According to the Military Police, the site served as a logistical support base for criminal activities, including the storage and distribution of weapons and drugs, as well as being a strategic point in confrontations with rival groups.
According to intelligence reports, the region is experiencing escalating tensions between members of Comando Vermelho, which dominates Borel, and Terceiro Comando Puro, which operates in the Casa Branca area. The dispute is related to control of drug sales points.
Exceptional character
The operation was considered exceptional due to the presence of heavily armed criminals and the imminent risk of large-scale confrontations, which could directly affect the safety of residents and police officers.
There is still no information regarding arrests and seizures.
In recent days, residents have reported intense shootings in the Casa Branca region, with reports in the early hours of Saturday (2) and Sunday (3). Shots were heard in different parts of the North Zone, increasing the feeling of insecurity in the region.
