Drivers traveling around the Maracanã area should be aware of traffic changes this Sunday (31). Due to the friendly match between the national teams of Brazil and Panama, scheduled for 18:30 pm, the City of Rio has set up a special traffic scheme with road closures and parking restrictions around the stadium.
According to the city's Operations Center (COR-Rio), the road closures will be in effect from 3:30 PM to 10:30 PM. In addition to the road closures, parking has been prohibited on some streets since 10:00 AM this Sunday.
The operation involves CET-Rio agents, traffic support personnel, motorcycles, operational vehicles, and message boards to guide drivers and pedestrians. The city government recommends that drivers avoid the area near the stadium during peak hours and use alternative routes.
Traffic is monitored in real time by city technicians using cameras at the Operations Center, who can make adjustments to traffic light programming to minimize traffic disruption.
