In yet another attempt to plea bargain to reduce his sentence and avoid prison, former governor Sérgio Cabral will present to the court a letter from Eduardo Paes, written in March 2014, with compliments that denote intimacy.
According to Paulo Cappelli, from O Globo, the objective is to show that the relationship between them was more than institutional, with proximity and participation in illicit schemes.
Among the accusations, Cabral claims that Paes issued a permit in exchange for a donation to the 2016 election campaign and that the former mayor raised R$30 million, via slush funds, for MDB Senate candidates in 2014.
The former governor was sentenced to more than 200 years in prison and hopes to obtain legal benefits by proving his case.
