Workers' Party (PT) pre-candidate for Rio de Janeiro mayor, Representative Benedita da Silva, defended today in an interview with the newspaper O Globo the unity of the opposition to Bolsonaro in the upcoming elections. She said the PSOL made a mistake in allowing Representative Marcelo Freixo to withdraw from the race.

  • The Workers' Party, which initially supported its own candidacy, gradually became convinced that it wouldn't get anywhere separately and began talking to other parties, including the PSOL. I think the PSOL made a mistake in allowing Freixo to withdraw from the race in the city. We'll make a huge mistake if the opposition doesn't sit down to talk and walk this path together in this city and in Bolsonaro's state. We'll resolve 2022 down the road. I still have hope (for a coalition). All parties have the right to launch their candidacies. No one will be able to say the Workers' Party didn't want to join.
