The acting governor of Rio, Cláudio Castro (PSC), announced the replacement of two more secretaries. This brings the total number of changes in the top tier of government to six since Castro took over the Executive branch, following the removal of Wilson Witzel, from the same party, at the end of August by a decision of the Superior Court of Justice (STJ).
The changes published in the State Official Gazette this Wednesday, the 16th, are in the Science and Technology and Cities departments, which will now be headed by technical experts. Maria Isabel de Castro de Souza, PhD in Dentistry from UFRJ, takes over the Science and Technology department, replacing Leonardo Rodrigues. Engineer Uruan Cintra de Andrade, in turn, will head the Cities department, replacing Juarez Fialho, and will also temporarily be responsible for the State Department of Labor and Income.
On Monday the 14th, Cláudio Castro had changed the leadership of the state's Civil Police Secretariat, the Attorney General's Office, the Comptroller General's Office, and the Institutional Security Office.
