RICARDO BRUNO

Acting Governor Cláudio Castro has already decided, if his tenure is confirmed, to bring in someone with ties to the Public Prosecutor's Office to the core of the administration. The most likely candidate is former Attorney General Marfan Vieira. He would go to the Civil House, replacing André Moura.

In addition to being the personal favorite of the acting governor, Marfan would be a perfect choice because, at 71 years old, he has already decided to retire, which means that he will soon be free from having to respect the veto imposed by the National Council of the Public Prosecutor's Office on members of the category holding positions in the executive branch.

The Chief of Staff's office has a strategic function at the heart of the government. And it would be strengthened by returning budgetary control, currently under the planning department. Thus, all projects would be subject to Marfan's scrutiny. In addition to controlling appointments throughout the administration, this is also within the department's purview.

In Cláudio Castro's future cabinet, the appointment of Congressman Hugo Leal (PSD) to the Secretariat of Cities is also a sure bet. This is the most important political arm of the government in coordinating and executing projects with municipalities in the interior. Cláudio has a long history with Hugo, having previously served as his parliamentary advisor.
