The Corpus Christi holiday, celebrated this Thursday (4), will alter the operation of public and private services in Rio de Janeiro. This year, the date gained the status of a state holiday after the enactment of Law No. 11.002/2025.
Furthermore, both the State Government and the City Hall of Rio decreed an optional holiday on Friday (5), which extends the holiday period for some public servants.
Corpus Christi is a movable feast in the Christian calendar celebrated by the Catholic Church. The solemnity takes place 60 days after Easter and aims to celebrate the Eucharist, a sacrament that, according to Catholic tradition, was instituted by Jesus Christ during the Last Supper.
