In a trial this Tuesday, the National Council of the Public Prosecutor's Office (CNMP) may remove the coordinator of Operation Car Wash in Curitiba, Deltan Dallagnol. Authored by Senator Kátia Abreu (PP-TO), the lawsuit advocates the prosecutor's removal "in the public interest." Dallagnou was caught in compromising conversations with former judge Sérgio Moro, revealed by the
The Intercept website, which undermined the credibility of his role on the task force.

In this trial, the 11 council members who make up the panel will decide whether the CNMP will open proceedings to assess whether Dallagnol should be removed from the Federal Public Prosecutor's Office in the capital of Paraná. The panel's chairman is Attorney General Augusto Aras, who has clashed with the task force in recent months.

It all began in June, when Aras authorized one of his closest aides, Deputy Attorney General Lindora Araújo, who heads Operation Car Wash at the Attorney General's Office (PGR), to travel to Curitiba to collect confidential data from the operation without the task force members' knowledge. Furthermore, Aras has called Operation Car Wash a "box of secrets" and complained that "it's impossible to imagine an institutional unit being built on secrecy."
