Former Rio mayor and pre-candidate for governor of the state, Eduardo Paes (PSD), continues trying to strengthen his presence in the political scene of Rio de Janeiro outside the capital. He posted a video on social media highlighting the number of kilometers he has already traveled on campaign events throughout the state. He has covered more than 2,1 kilometers.
In the post, Paes states that he is "listening a lot and learning even more," while presenting the tour of different regions as part of a strategy to expand direct contact with the population. The video emphasizes the extent of the trips undertaken, indicating a continuous effort to maintain a presence in municipalities in the interior and in the metropolitan region.
"Our state is incredible and has hardworking and resilient people who don't need to be going through the difficulties they are experiencing. Come with me to make this transformation!", wrote the pre-candidate.
A strategy of proximity and listening.
Emphasizing the kilometers traveled reinforces one of the main lines of Paes' pre-campaign: the attempt to present himself as a politician close to the population and attentive to local demands. Traveling to different cities has been used as an argument to support his discourse of active listening and the development of proposals.
In the video, the central idea is to show that the pre-campaign is not limited to the capital, but seeks to reach various regions of the state, expanding the political and electoral reach of the pre-candidate.
Discourse of transformation and indirect criticism
As in other recent statements, Paes links his travel agenda to a critical diagnosis of the state's situation. He states that Rio has potential, but faces difficulties that, in his assessment, could be overcome with management and planning.
The pre-candidate also reinforces themes such as public safety and economic development, mentioning the need to "restore authority, command, and tranquility to families and development to Rio."
Pre-campaign picks up pace.
The video reinforces the intensification of Eduardo Paes' pre-campaign, which has focused on in-person events and the dissemination of digital content to increase visibility.
By highlighting the kilometers traveled, the pre-candidate attempts to consolidate the image of an active politician willing to get to know the reality of the state firsthand, in a scenario still marked by political uncertainties and structural challenges in Rio de Janeiro.
