A 69-year-old patient who had tested positive for the novel coronavirus died Tuesday night at Icaraí Hospital in Niterói, in the Rio Metropolitan Region. The information was announced by the health facility itself. In a statement, it was said that the patient, who had high blood pressure, died of septic shock and pneumonia.
The elderly man, according to Hospital Icaraí, “had an epidemiological history of COVID-19 (his stepson, who was not treated at Hospital Icaraí, came from New York, USA, and tested positive),” with the condition beginning on March 11, 2020. “The patient, in addition to his age, had comorbidities that placed him in the risk group,” the unit stated.
