Former Rio city councilor and former Flamengo football director, Marcos Braz, was robbed on Monday afternoon (4), in São Cristóvão, in the North Zone of Rio. His car was taken by the criminals.
According to the Civil Police, the case was registered at the 18th Precinct (Praça da Bandeira). With the support of teams from the 25th Precinct (Engenho Novo), the 26th Precinct (Todos os Santos), and the Military Police, the car was located near the area where authorities conducted their triage two hours after the crime.
To date, the perpetrators of the crime have not yet been found. Following the incident, Marcos Braz posted a thank you message on social media for the actions of the law enforcement agencies:
"I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the Civil Police of the State of Rio de Janeiro for their prompt action and swift and efficient service. I especially highlight the work of the 18th Police Station, which was fundamental to the rapid recovery of the vehicle, more precisely in less than two hours. My sincere thanks to everyone involved for their professionalism and dedication," he wrote.
Marcos Braz became a Flamengo member back in 1995. He worked in the football management and became vice-president of that area between 2019 and 2024. During this period, the club won titles such as the Libertadores Cup and the Brazilian Championship.
Off the field, he headed the Municipal Sports Secretariat of Rio and served as a city councilor between 2021 and 2024. Currently, he works as a football executive for Clube do Remo.
