Flávio Bolsonaro meets with US Deputy Secretary of State, one day after meeting with Trump.

The senator participated in a meeting at the State Department in Washington and discussed cooperation between Brazil and the United States, as well as the fight against Brazilian criminal factions.

Senator Flávio Bolsonaro participated this Wednesday (27) in a meeting at the United States Department of State, in Washington, with the US Deputy Secretary of State, Christopher Landau, and with Darren Beattie, an advisor linked to US President Donald Trump.

According to a report sent to Monica Bergamo, FSPAccording to blogger Paulo Figueiredo, the meeting took place "at the invitation" of the American government. Among the topics discussed were possibilities for cooperation between Brazil and the United States in a potential electoral scenario involving the senator, as well as the proposal to classify the Primeiro Comando da Capital (PCC) and Comando Vermelho as foreign terrorist organizations by the US.

The meeting takes place after a meeting with Trump.

The diplomatic agenda took place just one day after Flávio Bolsonaro met with Donald Trump in the Oval Office of the White House. Former congressman Eduardo Bolsonaro and Paulo Figueiredo also participated in the meeting in the United States.

According to Figueiredo, Trump received the Brazilian senator "very warmly." The journalist also stated that the Republican's first question was about former president Jair Bolsonaro.

Allies of the Liberal Party (PL) interpreted the meeting as a political trump card for Flávio Bolsonaro's potential presidential pre-campaign. The assessment within the group is that the rapprochement with Trump and members of the American government strengthens the senator's international image and expands his political reach abroad.

Criminal factions at the center of the conversations.

After the meeting at the White House, Eduardo Bolsonaro stated that he had requested the American government to classify the PCC and Comando Vermelho as terrorist groups. The matter was brought up again at the meeting held this Wednesday at the State Department.

The Bolsonaro family's movements in the United States have been monitored by the government of President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva. On Tuesday (26), Vice President Geraldo Alckmin criticized Eduardo Bolsonaro's international activities and declared that Brazil did not need "another member of the family working against the country" on American soil.

International rapprochement generates political repercussions.

The meetings held in Washington occur amidst the intensification of political maneuvering by the Brazilian right wing on the international stage. The strategy of rapprochement with Donald Trump and sectors of the Republican government is seen by allies as a way to reinforce the political influence of the Bolsonaro group in the face of discussions about the Brazilian electoral landscape in the coming years.
