During the plenary session this Tuesday (05), at the Legislative Assembly of Rio (Alerj), deputy Flávio Serafini (Psol) commented on the arrest of Deputy Thiago Rangel (Avante) He stated that the episode reinforces the scenario of political crisis in the state. The legislator was the only one to address the issue in the plenary session.
At the start of his speech, Serafini described the moment as yet another negative episode in the recent political history of Rio de Janeiro. "Unfortunately, another sad day in the political history of the State of Rio de Janeiro. Today, another congressman was arrested," he said.
Complaints cited in the decision
The congressman stated that part of the investigations mentioned in the court decision refers to complaints he had previously filed. According to Serafini, the allegations involve possible irregularities in contracts linked to the State Department of Education.
"I must point out that, among the accusations, there is a reference in Minister Alexandre de Moraes's decision to a complaint I filed regarding a scheme to circumvent the bidding law for carrying out overpriced works at the State Department of Education," he stated.
He also cited data on the increase in spending in the sector: "As I showed through my complaint, during Cláudio Castro's administration, spending on these projects through decentralization multiplied almost tenfold, going from 60 million to 600 million per year."
Criticisms of the political landscape
According to the congressman, Rangel's arrest brings to light once again suspicions of irregularities involving public contracts and political agents. "Now, this is once again brought to the forefront with the possibility that companies were paying bribes to politicians, including Congressman Thiago Rangel," he stated.
Serafini also criticized the recent political leadership in the state. “Unfortunately, the former government of Claudio Castro pushed us into a very sad period in the history of the State of Rio de Janeiro. But we stood firm, fulfilling our role of oversight, denouncing this scheme that circumvented the bidding law,” he emphasized.
In closing, the congressman expressed his hope for changes in the political landscape: "May Rio de Janeiro have happier days and not find its politics so deeply entangled in these schemes as has been the case in recent years."
