Chef Henrique Fogaça announced yesterday the closure of his restaurant in the Village Mall shopping center. Opened at the end of 2018, Sal Gastronomia, a branch of the namesake São Paulo restaurant, had a short life in Rio. “You can hold on for a month; two months and you're going down the drain. In just these four months, we've lost half a million reais. It's complicated: the shopping center is like a partner, taking 8% of the group's revenue, you have to pay for support funds, etc. Shopping centers exploit and suck everything dry,” explained the famous MasterChef judge, also a victim of the economic devastation caused by the pandemic.
