Agents from the Elite Division of GM-Rio – Municipal Force arrested 45 people for crimes such as robbery, theft and receiving stolen goods throughout the long holiday weekend, from Friday to Sunday (1st to 3rd). The arrests took place in the areas of operation of the guard in Rio, in neighborhoods in the Center, South Zone, North and West of Rio.
The actions were carried out during preventive and visible patrols at the following locations: Bus Station x Gentileza Terminal x Leopoldina; Jardim de Alah; Avenida Presidente Vargas, Central do Brasil, Campo de Santana, Cinelândia; Station x Campo Grande Pedestrian Mall; Afonso Pena x São Francisco Xavier.

On Saturday (02), agents seized a pistol during an operation carried out near Rua Mariz e Barros, in Tijuca, North Zone. During the policing, the teams saw a man driving a motorcycle in the wrong direction, while people shouted “catch the thief”.
After being surrounded, the suspect fell off his motorcycle and was arrested. Officers seized a pistol with one round of ammunition, a wedding ring, a necklace, and a cell phone from him.
Subsequently, still at the scene of the incident, a victim reported that the suspect had just stolen his motorcycle and belongings. The perpetrator was taken to the 18th Police Station (Praça da Bandeira), and the victim's belongings were recovered and returned.
Young man apprehended
Also on Saturday, during policing in Jardim de Alah, in the South Zone, teams were called by the doorman of a condominium after a teenager tried to enter the building without authorization. According to reports, he claimed he was going to visit an apartment whose resident said she did not know him.
Upon noticing the approaching officers, the young man attempted to flee and threw a screwdriver, possibly used for burglaries, to the ground.
He was eventually apprehended and taken to the 14th Precinct (Leblon). According to information from the unit, the teenager is part of a gang specializing in burglaries in condominiums in the South Zone.
