Government supporters call on the Attorney General's Office to investigate Flávio Bolsonaro for affronting national sovereignty.

Members of Parliament from PSOL and Rede are requesting an investigation into the senator's actions with the United States government to classify PCC and Comando Vermelho as terrorist organizations.

Members of Congress supporting President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva have submitted a formal complaint to the Attorney General's Office (PGR) requesting an investigation into Senator Flávio Bolsonaro's (PL-RJ) dealings with US authorities, reports Lauro Jardim in his column in the newspaper. The Globe. Lawmakers want the body to investigate whether the initiatives of former President Jair Bolsonaro's son to defend the classification of the First Command of the Capital (PCC) and the Red Command (CV) as terrorist organizations could constitute a crime against national sovereignty..

The request was submitted by a group of seven parliamentarians from PSOL and Rede Sustentabilidade, led by federal deputy Fernanda Melchionna (PSOL-RS). The document was also signed by deputies Chico Alencar, Duda Salabert, Luiza Erundina, Luizianne Lins, and Sâmia Bomfim, as well as former senator Heloísa Helena.

The complaint was filed following the United States government's decision to include the two Brazilian criminal factions on lists related to international terrorism. The petitioners argue that Flávio Bolsonaro acted directly with members of President Donald Trump's administration to advocate for the measure.

Meetings with Trump and Marco Rubio

In the document sent to the Attorney General's Office, the parliamentarians highlight meetings held by Flávio Bolsonaro with President Donald Trump and with the US Secretary of State, Marco Rubio.

According to the authors of the complaint, the American press itself attributed the White House's decision to a process of coordination led by members of the Bolsonaro family.

The lawmakers cite news reports indicating that the measure was taken after months of "aggressive lobbying by the sons of the imprisoned former president, Jair Bolsonaro."

The complaint also mentions public statements made by the senator himself after the announcement of the decision.

According to lawmakers, Flávio celebrated the measure on social media and claimed to have worked directly to ensure that criminal organizations were classified as terrorist groups.

Suspected interference in internal affairs

The signatories argue that the episode should not be analyzed in isolation. According to them, there is a history of initiatives by the Bolsonaro family aimed at seeking support from foreign authorities on issues related to Brazilian domestic politics.

According to the congressmen, acting in conjunction with the American government could represent an attempt at foreign interference in matters that fall under the exclusive jurisdiction of Brazilian institutions.

The group maintains that conducting foreign policy and international relations is the exclusive responsibility of the President of the Republic and the federal Executive Branch.

For this reason, he argues that a member of parliament would not have the institutional legitimacy to negotiate or request measures of this nature directly from foreign governments.

Possible crime against national sovereignty

The complaint alleges that the conduct attributed to Flávio Bolsonaro may have exceeded the limits of parliamentary activity and, in theory, fall under provisions of criminal law related to the protection of national sovereignty.

Lawmakers argue that the senator's actions should be analyzed from the perspective of a possible attack on the country's sovereignty.

The document also argues that, in this specific context, parliamentary immunity would not be sufficient to prevent the investigation.

According to the authors, the constitutional protection afforded to parliamentarians extends to opinions, words, and votes related to the exercise of their mandate, but not necessarily to negotiations or dealings with foreign governments.

Requests made to the Prosecutor's Office

In their formal complaint, the members of parliament request that the Attorney General's Office order the initiation of a federal police investigation to ascertain the facts and assess any potential liability on the part of the senator.

In addition to the criminal investigation, the parliamentarians are requesting the adoption of administrative and civil measures that the Attorney General's Office deems appropriate after analyzing the case.

Another point in the document involves the Electoral Court.

The authors request that the Public Prosecutor's Office inform the Superior Electoral Court (TSE) about the reported facts so that the Court can assess any potential foreign influence in the Brazilian political process or possible abuse of power related to the electoral scenario.
