Justice Ricardo Lewandowski of the Federal Supreme Court (STF) decided this Wednesday (13) that the three tests carried out by President Jair Bolsonaro to detect whether or not he was infected by the new coronavirus must be made public. The decision was made after analyzing an action by Estadão.
“I order that all reports and documents submitted by the Union to my Office be added to the electronic records, and that they be given wide publicity,” Lewandowski determined.
Less than 24 hours after submitting COVID-19 tests to the Supreme Federal Court (STF), the Attorney General's Office (AGU) returned to Lewandowski's office on Wednesday to submit a third test taken by Bolsonaro. The government decided to anticipate a Supreme Federal Court decision.
After the president of the Superior Court of Justice (STJ), João Otávio de Noronha, freed Bolsonaro from making the tests public, Estadão filed a complaint with the STF last Monday (11) in which it alleges that Noronha's decision “interrupted the free circulation of ideas and versions of the facts, blocked the oversight of the acts of public agents by the press and stifled the newspaper's freedom of information”.
