Federal deputy Marcos Feliciano (PL-SP) publicly declared his support for Carlos Bolsonaro's candidacy for the Senate during his participation in the 41st International Missions Congress of the Gideons, held in Camboriú (SC). In a religious tone, the congressman stated that the Bolsonaro family was "anointed by God," in a speech directed at Carlos himself, who was attending the preaching session at the event.
During his speech, Feliciano emphasized the link between the evangelical base and the political group of former president Jair Bolsonaro. “The people of Santa Catarina have already embraced you. I look at you and I see your father,” he said, adding that the faithful pray “for the whole family.” According to him, “when we pray for one Bolsonaro, we pray for all of them.”
Religious support and emotion at the event
The demonstration took place before an audience linked to evangelical churches, traditionally aligned with Bolsonaro. Carlos Bolsonaro was present at the event and was moved by the statements. On social media, he described his participation as a remarkable moment and highlighted the support he received.
Feliciano also stated that Bolsonaro “is a brother” who “suffered injustices,” reinforcing a recurring narrative among allies of the former president. The speech also included references to the family's political continuity, mentioning other members such as Flávio Bolsonaro and Eduardo Bolsonaro.
Political movements and alliances
The event in Santa Catarina takes place amidst intensified political maneuvering focused on the 2026 elections. Reaching out to religious leaders has been a frequent strategy of allies of the former president.
During the same period, Flávio Bolsonaro participated in a religious service led by Silas Malafaia in Rio de Janeiro, alongside figures such as Douglas Ruas and Cláudio Castro. The ceremony included collective prayers and criticism of the current federal government.
These statements reinforce the role of religion as a mobilizing element within the conservative political field, especially in pre-election periods, when leaders seek to consolidate support in strategic segments of society.
