A driver was kidnapped during a cargo robbery on Wednesday morning (27), in the Pedreira Complex, in Costa Barros, in the North Zone of Rio. The victim ended up being shot in the arm and needed to be rescued by military police officers.
According to the police, the kidnapping took place on the Presidente Dutra Highway, in São João de Meriti, in the Baixada Fluminense region. According to the command of the 41st BPM (Irajá), the driver reported that the criminals approached him while he was driving on the highway.
Under threat, the victim had to drive to the area known as Bin Laden, which is part of the complex of communities in the Morro da Pedreira region.
Upon receiving information about the case, battalion teams conducted searches in the area and managed to locate the man. He needed to be taken to the Costa Barros Emergency Care Unit. Despite the gunshot wound, according to the Military Police, the driver is not in danger of death.
The company did not clarify what the cargo was or whether it was recovered. The case is registered at the local police station.
