Woman attacked with 34 stab wounds in Praça Seca.

Family members say the victim had been receiving threats and held a protest demanding justice.

A 28-year-old woman was stabbed 34 times near where she lives, in the Bateau Mouche community, Praça Seca, Southwest Zone of Rio, in the early hours of Sunday (31), while returning from a party.

The victim, Hayanna de Almeida, was rescued by a motorcyclist who was passing by and taken to the Albert Schweitzer Municipal Hospital in Realengo, where she remains hospitalized in stable condition.

Family members say Hayanna had been receiving threats and suspect the attack was carried out by her former mother-in-law and a woman identified as the lover of her ex-husband, who died about two months ago. According to relatives, the relationship between the victim and her former mother-in-law was marked by conflict.

This Monday (1st), the family gathered in a protest on Avenida Cândido Benício, in Praça Seca, to demand justice.

“For months she faced conflict and persecution. My sister was constantly the target of threats and intimidation. What should have ended after the death of her partner only continued and intensified,” wrote the victim's sister on social media.

The case is registered at the 41st Police Station (Tanque). "Investigations are underway to ascertain the facts," the Civil Police reported.

The Military Police said they were not called about the crime.
