Appointed during Castro's administration, the fake lawyer arrested in Operation Fake Screen is dismissed by Ricardo Couto.

The Civil House Secretariat states that the employee was appointed before the adoption of current compliance procedures and reports that her dismissal occurred on the same day as the police operation.

The arrest of Mia Montenegro during the Operation False Screen, carried out by the Civil Police on the morning of this Wednesday (3)This provoked an immediate reaction from the Rio de Janeiro State Government. In an official statement, the State Secretariat of the Civil House informed that the civil servant was dismissed from her position on the same day as the police action, with the measure published in an extraordinary edition of the Official Gazette.

According to the state government, Mia Montenegro had been appointed during the previous administration, a period in which, according to the Civil House, the current compliance procedures adopted for the analysis of nominations and appointments in the Executive Branch did not yet exist.

The statement was released just hours after the civil servant's arrest as part of Operation False Screen, conducted by the Civil Police. The investigation and the details that motivated the police action were not addressed in the statement released by the government.

Immediate response

In the statement, the Secretary of the Civil House sought to emphasize that the appointment occurred before the implementation of the mechanisms currently used for evaluating appointments in the state Executive branch. The department also stressed that the dismissal was effective immediately after the arrest.

The publication of the dismissal in an extraordinary edition of the Official Gazette reinforces the speed of the measure adopted by the government in light of the case's repercussions.

“The State Government, through the State Secretariat of the Civil House, clarifies that Mia Montenegro, arrested this Wednesday morning (06/03) during the Civil Police's Operation “Fake Screen”, was appointed to the State Executive Branch in the previous administration, when compliance procedures for appointments did not yet exist.
