The São Paulo Electoral Court has accepted the Public Prosecutor's Office's charges against former Governor Geraldo Alckmin (PSDB) for electoral fraud ("slush funds"), passive corruption, and money laundering. Alckmin is now a defendant in the case.
The Public Prosecutor's Office has accused Geraldo Alckmin of receiving R$11,3 million from Odebrecht during his 2010 and 2014 election campaigns for the São Paulo state gubernatorial team, the PSDB. The former governor was named by three whistleblowers from the group. According to the Public Prosecutor's Office, Alckmin received the funds under various aliases, such as "pastel," "pudim," and "bolero."
