Brazilian Federal Police identify messages with violent remarks from allies of Thiago Rangel, including '12 shots at the gate' and 'I'll take care of him'.

Conversations reveal threats and attempts to pressure targets; investigation also indicates irregularities in contracts and misuse of public office.

The decision that led to the arrest of State Representative Thiago Rangel (Avante)On Tuesday (05), messages were brought to light that indicate possible episodes of intimidation and threats. The material, analyzed by Minister Alexandre de Moraes, of the Supreme Federal Court (STF), is part of the investigation conducted by the Federal Police in Operation Unha e Carne.

According to the ruling, the intercepted dialogues show conversations in which there are mentions of violent actions against people who criticized the congressman. In one of the excerpts, Rangel states: "I'm going to take care of him," followed by an indication that he would send a "surprise." He then adds: "After 12 shots at the gate, the message has been delivered."

Messages mention intimidation.

Other dialogues gathered by the investigation point to discussions about strategies to eliminate a target. In one of the conversations, one interlocutor states: "we have to cut off his head without giving him a chance," to which another replies: "we'll assess the best moment and take it off."

There are also mentions of an intimidation plan involving an attack on a vehicle. In one excerpt, an ally describes the action, saying: "the kid is going to punch him in the face, he's going to shoot at his car," detailing the strategy to pressure a person to leave a certain position.

According to the Federal Police, this set of messages indicates the possible use of threats as a modus operandi by the investigated group. For investigators, the dialogues reinforce the level of organization and planning of their actions.

Supreme Court decision and operation

The arrest of Thiago Rangel was authorized as part of the new phase of the operation, which also included search and seizure warrants at 21 addresses. The measure was taken following a request from the Federal Police, with the approval of the Attorney General's Office.

In analyzing the case, Minister Alexandre de Moraes stated that there is consistent evidence of the existence of a structured group. "The information gathered during the investigation shows strong evidence of the existence and current activity of a structured and stable criminal organization, dedicated to the repeated practice of the crimes of embezzlement, active corruption, and passive corruption," he noted in the decision.

Investigation points to structure of influence.

The investigations also identified evidence of the use of public positions and contracts to benefit the group. Among the materials seized is a spreadsheet found in the Legislative Assembly of Rio (Alerj), which listed parliamentarians and recorded nominations and requests for positions in the administration.

According to the Federal Police, this structure was allegedly used to influence appointments and direct contracts, with suspicion of misappropriation of public funds.

The case remains under investigation, and authorities are continuing to analyze the evidence gathered during the operation.
