In another stage of Lava Jato in Rio de Janeiro, the Federal Police arrested, on the morning of this Thursday (14), former state deputy Paulo Melo, businessman Mário Peixoto and two other people.
Peixoto and Melo were arrested in Operation Favorito, according to investigations, because evidence of fraud emerged in purchases for the Covid-19 field hospitals.
"Evidence has emerged that the criminal organization persists in its criminal practices, including taking advantage of the state of emergency caused by the coronavirus pandemic, which authorizes emergency contracts without bidding, to illegally obtain multi-million dollar contracts with the public sector," stated the Federal Police.
