Drug trafficker Márcio Silva de Souza, known as Verdão, was arrested this Monday (1), in Campo Grande, in the West Zone of Rio. According to the Civil Police, Verdão is part of the high command of Comando Vermelho (CV) and is one of the oldest leaders of the faction still active in the state.
The arrest was carried out by agents from the Delegated Services Defense Police Station (DDSD), following intelligence work and monitoring by the specialized unit. The detainee is a former military police officer from São Paulo who became involved in drug trafficking after leaving the force.
According to investigations, over the years, Márcio established himself as one of the main drug suppliers for the CV (Comando Vermelho), with influence in strategic areas of the Lins Complex, in the North Zone of Rio.
Operation
According to the agents, Verdão gained notoriety in 2003 when he was arrested during a police operation. He is also identified as being responsible for supplying drugs to several communities controlled by Comando Vermelho. After spending about 15 years in the prison system, he was released in 2018 and is believed to have regained a prominent position within the organization's structure.
Investigations by the DDSD also indicate that Márcio commanded the faction's activities in the Porto do Rosa and Monte Verde communities in São Gonçalo, in the Metropolitan Region. According to the police, he also coordinated drug trafficking, maintained territorial control, and managed armed criminals in the region.
During the investigation, the police found that he was using a false document to hinder his identification and avoid complying with court orders.
The officers served three arrest warrants for the crimes of drug trafficking, homicide, and conspiracy to traffic drugs. Márcio Silva was sent to the prison system and remains at the disposal of the Justice system.
