The president of the Legislative Assembly of the State of Rio de Janeiro, Deputy Douglas Ruas, met this Monday with mayors of municipalities in the North and Northwest Fluminense regions to discuss measures to support cities affected by the rains of last summer. The meeting brought together municipal leaders and parliamentarians to discuss the possibility of expanding the scope of financial aid already approved by the Assembly.
The initiative comes after the enactment of a law that allocated approximately R$ 30 million to 17 affected municipalities, with individual transfers of approximately R$ 1,75 million. During the meeting, the drafting of a new bill to extend the benefit to other cities was discussed.
Debate on financial support
According to Douglas Ruas, the proposal under analysis seeks to expand support for local administrations that have suffered losses due to climate events. "We are strengthening our partnership with municipalities in the interior. Through unity and dialogue, we build solutions and advance the development of the state," he stated.
The meeting was attended by mayors who are part of the Northwest Fluminense Multifunctional Public Consortium and the North and Northwest Fluminense Intermunicipal Public Development Consortium, representing cities in these regions. The group discussed regional demands and possible strategies to expand services to the affected cities.
