The crash of a small plane in Belo Horizonte took on new emotional dimensions after a friend of one of the victims revealed details of the last minutes before the accident. The tragedy, recorded this Monday (4), left three dead and two injured.
Pilot Iago Pereira, a friend of Fernando Moreira Souto, posted on social media that he was with him shortly before takeoff at Pampulha Airport: “We stayed talking until takeoff time, I took this last photo today at 11:50 am and went home. When I turned on the TV, the news was already on.”
In another passage, he expresses his shock at what happened. "My God, how I prayed that it wasn't true, that everyone was okay, that it wasn't the plane, that it was all a nightmare, after all I was there with you 15 minutes ago, and that couldn't be true."
Final moments before takeoff
According to the account, the meeting took place in a hangar shortly before the aircraft took off for São Paulo. Fernando, who was the son of the mayor of Jequitinhonha, reportedly showed enthusiasm when talking about future plans.
"In the short time we met today, we talked about the plane and you were so excited, talking about your upcoming plans. Thank you for everything, my friend!" he reported.
The aircraft had departed from Teófilo Otoni, in the Mucuri Valley, with six people on board. After a stop in Belo Horizonte, two people disembarked and one boarded, totaling five occupants at the time of the accident.
Tragedy leaves three dead.
The plane crashed shortly after takeoff in the capital of Minas Gerais state. The pilot, Wellington Oliveira, 34, and Fernando Moreira Souto, 36, died at the scene.
Hours later, the death of businessman Leonardo Berganholi, 50, was confirmed. He had been rescued with multiple fractures and taken to Hospital João XXIII.
Two other passengers survived and remain hospitalized. Arthur Berganholi, 25, suffered a broken leg and is in stable condition. Hemerson Cleiton Almeida de Souza, 53, suffered more serious leg injuries, underwent surgery, and is also in stable condition.
