The growing presence of children and adolescents in the digital environment has increased the challenges related to online safety. In this context, the Legislative Assembly of Rio de Janeiro (Alerj) approved in second discussion, this Tuesday (2), a proposal that authorizes the creation of the awareness and alert campaign “Combating the Crime of Virtual Rape” in the public and private education networks of the state.
The measure aims to expand information and prevention against crimes committed via the internet that target minors. The text now goes to the governor for analysis, who may approve or veto the proposal within 15 days.
awareness and prevention
According to the article, educational institutions may promote lectures, seminars, debates, and other training activities aimed at guiding students, teachers, parents, and other members of the school community about the risks of online violence.
The activities should address topics such as the concept of virtual rape, the methods used by criminals, preventive measures, and the channels available for reporting this type of crime.
The proposal also stipulates that the Executive Branch may establish partnerships and technical cooperation agreements with public security agencies, cyber intelligence centers of the Civil Police, and institutions linked to the justice system to support the implementation of educational activities.
The author of the initiative, Representative Anderson Moraes (PL), argues that awareness is an important tool to combat crimes that have been gaining ground with the advancement of technologies and digital interaction among children and adolescents.
