Rio surpasses the mark of 1,3 million doses of the flu vaccine administered.

The elderly have the highest vaccination coverage among priority groups, while children have the lowest immunization rate.

The city of Rio has surpassed the mark of 1,3 million doses of the flu vaccine administered since the start of this year's immunization campaign, on March 24th. Data from the EpiRio panel, from the Municipal Health Department (SMS), updated this Sunday (31), indicate that a total of 1.310.822 doses have already been administered.

Among priority groups, vaccination coverage reached 36,19%, equivalent to 641.680 doses administered. The elderly lead the immunization rates, with 39,58% coverage and 543.779 doses administered.

Pregnant women have a coverage rate of 34,97%, with 15.071 doses administered. Children, on the other hand, have the lowest percentage among the priority groups, with 23,27% coverage and 82.830 doses administered.

Barra and Jacarepaguá lead in immunization rates.

The data also shows the distribution of applications across the city's regions. Barra da Tijuca and Jacarepaguá, in the Southwest Zone, concentrate the largest number of doses, with 166.703 immunizations performed. Next are Madureira, in the North Zone, with 165.255 doses, and the region formed by Penha, Ramos and Vigário Geral, which totals 159.305 applications.

At the other end of the spectrum, Santa Cruz, in the West Zone, recorded the lowest vaccination volume among the areas monitored by the panel, with 72.717 doses administered since the start of the campaign.

The survey also compiles historical data on influenza vaccination in the capital of Rio de Janeiro. In 2025, 2.225.749 doses were administered. In 2022 and 2023, the city surpassed the mark of 2,5 million immunizations. The historical data also shows the evolution of vaccination coverage among the elderly, children, pregnant women, and postpartum women, with variations in adherence rates recorded over the last few years.
