Military Police Sergeant Adriano Pereira de Sousa, 36, was killed by a gunshot to the head during an operation in the Faz Quem Quer community, in Rocha Miranda, North Zone of Rio, this Monday (1st).
The officer was hit while teams from the 9th BPM (Honório Gurgel) were operating in the region in an action to combat criminal groups hiding in the community. There was a confrontation.
Teams are working on the rescue.
After the attack, police launched an operation to remove the officer from the upper part of the community, with the help of a Civil Police helicopter. He was taken to the Central Hospital of the Military Police in Estácio, but did not survive his injuries.

Residents reported intense gunfire since the early hours of the morning.
"Teams from the corporation have intensified policing in the region and continue working to locate and arrest those involved in the action," says the Military Police.
Who was the agent?
Sergeant Pereira was stationed at the 9th BPM, joined the force in 2011, and also worked at the Shock Police Battalion (BPChq). He leaves behind two children. Funeral arrangements are not yet available.
