All Senate leaders have just signed a manifesto in defense of social isolation, a move by Brazilian institutions, including the Supreme Federal Court (STF) and the Chamber of Deputies, to halt President Bolsonaro's irresponsible escalation, which has advocated for a return to work in most sectors of the economy.

For social isolation
The coronavirus pandemic poses a profound challenge to all peoples and nations in confronting it.
The experience of countries that are in more advanced stages of the spread of the disease makes it clear that, in the absence of a vaccine or fully proven medical treatment, the most effective measure to minimize the effects of the pandemic is social isolation.
Only social isolation, while maintaining essential activities, can promote the "flattening of the contagion curve," enabling the health structure to care for the greatest possible number of patients, thus saving millions of lives, as studies on the subject indicate.
The State is responsible for supporting vulnerable people, entrepreneurs and social segments that will be economically affected by the effects of isolation.
In view of the above, the Federal Senate agrees with the recommendations of the World Health Organization and supports social isolation in Brazil, while asking the people to comply with the measures by staying at home.”
