A day after Governor Wilson Witzel waved the white flag to President Jair Bolsonaro, Delegate Antônio Ricardo Lima Nunes, head of the General Department of Homicides and Protection of Persons, stated that the Rio Civil Police is certain that "there is no involvement of the Bolsonaro family" in the death of councilwoman Marielle Franco (Psol) and her driver Anderson Gomes.
The police statement was interpreted as a desperate attempt to appease the Bolsonaro family. The alleged involvement of the president's family members was one of Bolsonaro's main complaints against the governor.
