Young Bruna Damaris Sant'Anna da Silva, 26, spoke for the first time after being found alive after spending about 42 hours adrift at sea, in Ilhabela. Admitted to the Mário Covas Jr. Municipal Hospital, the young woman recorded a video this Wednesday (27) from her hospital bed reporting pain throughout her body after the period at sea.
“I’m getting better. I have a lot of pain in my body and throat,” Bruna said in a recording made by her father and sent to family members this Tuesday (27).
The case has mobilized teams from the Navy and the Maritime Fire Brigade (GBMar) since last Sunday (24), when Bruna disappeared after going out for a jet ski ride alongside Dheorge Pereira Bernardino, 28 years old.
Rescue on the third day
Bruna was found alive by fishermen on Tuesday (26), during the third day of searches on the north coast of São Paulo. According to medical information, she is showing favorable clinical progress, is conscious, breathing spontaneously and without imminent risk of death.
Despite the improvement, the young woman remains hospitalized under medical observation.
The search for Dheorge continues this Wednesday (27). During the operation, Navy teams found a life jacket floating in the sea, which may belong to the missing man, although official identification has not yet been confirmed.
Father speaks of miracle.
Bruna's rescue caused a great deal of emotion among family members and residents of the region. In an interview with TV Vanguarda, the young woman's father, Sidney José da Silva, described his daughter's survival as a "miracle from God."
"She went through a very difficult trauma. She spent practically 40 hours at sea, in freezing water, and in completely opposite weather," he stated.
Experts suggest that factors such as the use of a life jacket, physical endurance, and weather conditions may have been crucial in enabling Bruna to survive for almost two days lost at sea.
Mystery continues
While Bruna recovers in the hospital, Dheorge's disappearance keeps family members and rescue teams mobilized along the coast of São Paulo.
Previously released images showed the man piloting the jet ski shortly before his disappearance. The dynamics of the accident are still under investigation.
Authorities expect the search to continue in the coming days, depending on sea and weather conditions in the region.
