The Superior Court of Justice (STJ) will decide next Wednesday (September 2nd) whether to keep Wilson Witzel removed from the Rio de Janeiro state government. After an appeal from the defense, Justice Benedito Gonçalves, who issued the removal decision, committed to taking the case "to the table," without the need for the president to include it on the agenda.
Benedito suspended Witzel from his position for 180 days because he believes that he, as the head of a criminal organization operating in Rio's health sector, has been interfering in the investigations.
Witzel complained to the minister about the need for the measure, claiming that he did not take any measures that could hinder the investigations and that he did not have access to the decision that removed him.
