Suspect in young man's murder turns himself in to police in Baixada.

The ex-boyfriend of an event producer was arrested after turning himself in at the police station; the victim had a restraining order against him.

Vinícius Gomes Castro da Silva, investigated for the death of his ex-girlfriend Samara Santos de Oliveira, 21, was arrested this Monday (4) after turning himself in at the 62nd DP (Imbariê), in Duque de Caxias, in Baixada Fluminense.

The crime occurred in the early morning of May 1st, at a motel in the region. According to investigations by the Baixada Fluminense Homicide Division (DHBF), the suspect allegedly took the victim to his parents' house in Belford Roxo. Samara was taken to an Emergency Care Unit (UPA), but arrived already deceased. The body showed signs of asphyxiation.

Temporary arrest was ordered by the court on Sunday (3), and the suspect was considered a fugitive until he turned himself in to the police. After legal procedures, he will be sent to the prison system. The case remains under investigation.

Relationship with episodes of violence

Samara and Vinícius had a relationship of about three years, described by family members as marked by episodes of violence. Since November 2025, the young woman had a restraining order against her ex.

On the night of the crime, the victim was returning from an event and was dropped off at her home in Bonsucesso, in the North Zone of Rio. Witnesses claim that the suspect was waiting for her there. She got into his car, and they both drove to the motel where the crime allegedly occurred.

The young woman's mother, Amanda Santos, posted a message on social media in tribute to her daughter, highlighting the bond between the two and demanding justice. The post generated a great deal of reaction and mobilization on social media.
