Unlike Rodrigo Bacellar, who received immediate solidarity from his colleagues and, by decision of the plenary, left prison in less than a week, Representative Thiago Rangel is not expected to be released by the Legislative Assembly.
This morning, Agenda do Poder spoke with several members of the Board of Directors, who unanimously pointed out the lack of climate and willingness to vote on the release of the parliamentarian.
The Board of Directors should not even bring the matter to the plenary session. If it does, the prevailing expectation is that the Legislative Assembly of Rio de Janeiro (Alerj) will confirm the continued detention.
A parliamentarian familiar with the inner workings of the House, with decades of experience in office, explained, speaking anonymously: Rangel does not have the same rapport with his colleagues, and the current circumstances also weigh heavily. The institutional crisis in Rio does not recommend actions that could challenge a decision by the Supreme Federal Court.
