Judge Ana Helena Mota Lima Valle, of the 26th Criminal Court of Rio de Janeiro, acquitted former mayor Eduardo Paes and six other people of charges of fraud in the contracting of medical services provided during World Youth Day in 2013, which was attended by Pope Francis. This information comes from Ancelmo Gois of O GLOBO.

The costs for providing the services reached R$ 7,5 million, and were assumed by the city government just days before the event, after the JMJ Institute declared that it could not afford the expenses and requested assistance from the government.
