TJ rules with Rede Globo and imposes a fine on Flamengo

Another round in the fight between Rede Globo and Flamengo. Judge Ricardo Couto de Castro, of the 7th Civil Chamber of the Court of Justice of Rio de Janeiro, granted a request made by Globo and imposed a fine of 2 million reais on Flamengo for showing or re-showing games of the competition that did not have the approval of the television network — which acquired the broadcasting rights for the Campeonato Carioca (Rio de Janeiro State Championship).

Earlier, the broadcaster had already announced its decision to stop airing the 2020 Campeonato Carioca matches after Flamengo streamed the game against Boa Vista on its own social media channels.
