At the request of the Attorney General of the Republic, Augusto Aras, the president of the Supreme Federal Court (STF), Dias Toffoli, rejected the opening of investigations based on the plea bargain agreement of Sérgio Cabral, signed with the Federal Police. The president of the STF accepted the request to dismiss three investigations that would have investigated ministers of the Superior Court of Justice (STJ) and the Federal Court of Accounts (TCU).



In practice, the decisions made by Toffoli reverse the authorization given by Edson Fachin, who approved the plea bargain of the former governor of Rio. In March, Fachin authorized the Federal Police to open 12 new investigations at the Supreme Court to investigate the accusations made by Cabral against authorities with privileged jurisdiction.
