The management did not reveal the reasons that led to the closure, limiting itself to announcing the cessation of operations.
"Umas & Ostras is coming to an end. For 35 years, it was a packed house, filled with people who started at the table and continued throughout their lives," the farewell post highlighted.
The choice of Mother's Day for the final appointment was also explained as a symbolic way to bring clients together on a date that is historically important to the business.

The restaurant has become a gastronomic landmark in the region.
Located in a large house on Rua Barão de Mesquita, near the intersection with Rua Santa Sofia, Umas & Ostras has become a gastronomic landmark in Tijuca.
In recent years, the restaurant had already been operating with reduced hours and stopped opening for dinner, concentrating its service at other times.
Even so, it remained a traditional destination for locals and visitors seeking seafood cuisine.
With its closure, Tijuca loses one of the most traditional restaurants in its recent history, ending a 35-year cycle marked by customer loyalty and a strong local identity.
