União de Maricá opens the doors of its new warehouse and thrills its team at Cidade do Samba.

The samba school that earned promotion to the elite of Rio's Carnival brings together professionals at Cidade do Samba, unveils its revitalized space, and begins preparations for the 2027 parade.

União de Maricá took another step in its preparation for its debut in the Special Group of the Rio Carnival. On a night marked by emotion, celebration, and symbolism, the school officially inaugurated its renovated warehouse in Cidade do Samba, a space that will now concentrate the production of the 2027 parade and strategic sectors of the group.

The event brought together school leaders, artists and professionals on Monday (1st) and began with a blessing led by Father Wagner Toledo and Babalaô Ivanir dos Santos. Afterwards, the board held a celebratory dinner to mark the beginning of a new phase in the trajectory of the Maricá association.

The renovation of the warehouse represents another chapter in the school's growth process after winning the Série Ouro title and consequently gaining access to the Special Group. The space received structural improvements and was planned to offer better working conditions to the teams responsible for building the parade.

During the ceremony, President Matheus Santos highlighted the importance of the achievement and shared the moment with the professionals who participate daily in the preparation of the school.

“I made a point of bringing the whole team together for this moment. It’s priceless to come here and see this smile on everyone’s face, their eyes shining. This is very important to me. We don’t know what tomorrow will bring, but today we can celebrate that this warehouse is ours,” he stated.

New dance studio excites segments

One of the highlights of the inauguration was the presentation of the new dance studio, created especially for rehearsals by the master of ceremonies and flag bearer couples and the front commission. The space was decorated with photographs depicting members of these groups and honoring the work developed throughout the last carnivals.

Master of Ceremonies Julinho Nascimento was moved upon seeing the space and highlighted the significance of the initiative for the artists of the school.

“Entering this room and seeing our history portrayed on the walls was very moving. This space represents respect, recognition, and, above all, investment in the work we do throughout the year. I am sure that even stronger and more moving performances will emerge from here. The word is gratitude,” he declared.

Flag bearer Rute Alves also highlighted the importance of the new structure for the development of the work and for strengthening the bonds between the members of the group.

“It’s impossible not to get emotional seeing all this. Every detail demonstrates affection and respect for the school’s professionals. Having a room designed for our rehearsals gives us even more motivation to work and represent União de Maricá in the best way possible,” he stated.

Looking towards 2027

With its renovated warehouse and structure ready to receive the works, União de Maricá is now intensifying preparations for one of the most important moments in its recent history. The school will be responsible for opening the Special Group parades on February 7, 2027, at the Marquês de Sapucaí.

The inauguration of the new space symbolizes not only a physical improvement, but also the strengthening of a project that seeks to consolidate União de Maricá among the main samba schools in Rio de Janeiro.
