A 53-year-old Colombian man was arrested late Sunday night (3) while trying to board with about 3 kg of cocaine at Rio's Galeão International Airport, in the North Zone. The drug was hidden in the structure of the luggage checked in by the passenger, whose final destination was Paris, France.
The arrest was carried out by Federal Police agents after a routine inspection during the flight's connection. Watch the video:
According to investigations, the man was allegedly recruited in Bogotá, Colombia, and received the suitcase containing the drugs in Manaus. From there, he traveled to Rio, where he would connect to a flight to the French capital.
The detainee was taken to the Regional Superintendence of the Federal Police in downtown Rio and will face charges for transnational drug trafficking.
