Volkswagen announced on Monday (4) a recall affecting 117.798 vehicles in Brazil. The recall involves models manufactured between 2020 and 2025 and includes popular cars from the brand, such as Polo, Virtus, Nivus, T-Cross and Tera.
According to the manufacturer, the problem is related to the software of the so-called "instrument cluster," responsible for displaying essential information to the driver on the vehicle's dashboard. The malfunction may prevent the system from functioning correctly at the time of starting the engine.
According to the company, the defect can lead to unexpected behavior of the dashboard, which is not in compliance with legislation and may increase the risk of accidents, with possible harm to occupants and third parties.
The risk lies in starting the vehicle.
Volkswagen has reported that, upon starting the vehicle, the system may not function as expected, failing to display important data to the driver. This type of malfunction can compromise safe driving, especially in situations requiring immediate attention.
To correct the problem, the recalled vehicles will undergo inspection and, if necessary, a software update. The service will be performed free of charge at the brand's dealerships and should take up to two hours.
Service begins in May.
The automaker informed that owners of the affected vehicles will be notified by letter. Service at dealerships is scheduled to begin on May 11th.
In addition, customers can check if their vehicles are part of the recall through the company's official website or by calling 0800 019 8866.
The recommendation is that car owners should schedule their service appointments in order to avoid risks associated with the identified defect.
