The mayor of Duque de Caxias, Washington Reis, left the ICU of the Pró-Cardíaco Hospital late this Saturday afternoon (18). With the positive evolution of his clinical condition, the medical team – led by cardiologist Claudio Domênico – decided to transfer him to the semi-intensive unit, where he will remain for a few more days under observation.
Diabetic and with heart disease, Washington showed significant improvement, emerging from the critical situation he was in. According to the mayor himself, in a phone conversation, his lung function showed very good recovery during the days he was in the intensive care unit. "The worst is over," he added.
Contrary to what we published, the mayor was not intubated, breathing only with the help of oxygen masks during his time in the ICU.
