Governor Wilson Witzel told secretaries and close aides that Operation Favorito, which last week arrested the Rio de Janeiro state government's largest supplier, linked to several members of his administration, is the result of Marcelo Bretas' persecution of him, aimed at pleasing Jair Bolsonaro. This information comes from Guilherme Amado of Época magazine.

In one of the most heated moments, Witzel said he would "go after" Bretas and Bolsonaro. "Going after" Bretas would be pointing out what he considers to be exaggerations in the operation.

Bretas is considered a possible candidate for Bolsonaro's nomination to the Supreme Court, and has become closer to the president since last year, even attending a government event. But the closest he has come to Witzel in this investigation is not in Bretas' hands — which he couldn't have, considering his jurisdiction is the Superior Court of Justice.

On Wednesday the 13th, Lava Jato in Rio, that is, the MPF, sent the PGR the report of a wiretap of the operation, in which there is a mention of the “zero one of the palace”, which, in the interpretation of the investigators, could be Witzel.

When contacted, Marcelo Bretas declined to comment.
